This End-User License Agreement and Terms of Service Agreement ("Agreement") was last updated July 7, 2024.

Please read this Agreement carefully before using MailToDoList.

Introduction

Welcome to MailToDoList!

MailToDoList is a Chrome extension that stores encrypted information in an online database.

As explained within MailToDoList on the "Important Tips" tab:

  • Be certain to remember (or to record in a secure password manager) the passphrase that you use with MailToDoList.
  • By default, your encrypted data is stored online and made accessible to you on multiple devices.
  • Only use MailToDoList with a given Gmail account in one tab at a time.
  • Only use MailToDoList with the primary (synced) Gmail account that you use in a given Chrome profile.
  • MailToDoList will not work with an inbox containing more than about 1500 emails.
  • Download a backup of your metadata periodically (with Ctrl+Shift+D).

As detailed below, MailToDoList is licensed per Gmail account and offers a seven-day free trial.

Acknowledgment of Binding Agreement

By using the Application, You are agreeing to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Agreement.

If You do not agree to the terms of this Agreement, do not use the Application and please immediately uninstall the Extension from your Device (and, if you have purchased a subscription, please cancel the subscription and do not use the Database).

This Agreement is a legal document between You and the Company and it governs your use of the Application made available to You by the Company.

This Agreement is between You and the Company only and not with the Application Store. Therefore, the Company is solely responsible for the Application. Although the Application Store is not a party to this Agreement, it has the right to enforce it against You as a third-party beneficiary relating to your use of the Extension.

Since the Extension can be accessed and used by other users via, for example, Family Sharing / Family Group or volume purchasing, the use of the Application by those users is expressly subject to this Agreement.

The Extension is licensed, not sold, to You by the Company for use strictly in accordance with the terms of this Agreement.

Similarly, your access to and use of the Database is permitted strictly in accordance with the terms of this Agreement and only through the Extension.

By using the Application, You represent and warrant that You are of legal age to form a binding contract with the Company. If You do not meet this requirement, You must not access or use the Application.

Your access to and use of the Application is also conditioned on Your acceptance of and compliance with the Privacy Policy of the Company. Our Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of Your personal information when You use the Application and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You. Please read Our Privacy Policy carefully before using Our Service. It is available (a) within MailToDoList on the "Privacy" tab and (b) on the Company's website at: https://mailtodolist.com/privacy/

Definitions

For purposes of this Agreement, the following terms have the following meanings

  • Account means a unique account created for You to enable access to a portion of the Database.
  • Agreement means this End-User License Agreement and Terms of Service Agreement that forms the entire agreement between You and the Company regarding the use of the Application.
  • Application means MailToDoList and refers to both (a) the Chrome Extension software program provided by the Company downloaded by You through an Application Store's account to a Device and (b) Your use of the MailToDoList online Database, managed by the Company, which stores encrypted information needed by the Chrome Extension.
  • Application Store means the digital distribution service operated and developed by Google LLC (the Chrome Web Store) by which the Extension has been downloaded to your Device.
  • Company (referred to as either "the Company", "We", "Us", or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to Fileographer, LLC, 97 Blue Ledge Dr., Boston, MA 02131.
  • Content refers to content such as text, images, or other information that can be posted, uploaded, linked to or otherwise made available by You, regardless of the form of that content.
  • Database refers to the online cloud storage portion of the Application.
  • Device means any device that can access the Application, such as a computer, a cellphone, or a digital tablet.
  • Extension refers to the downloadable software portion of the Application.
  • Family Sharing / Family Group permits You to share applications downloaded through the Application Store with other family members by allowing them to view and download each others' eligible Applications to their associated Devices.
  • Service or Services refers to the Company's provision to You of access to the Database during Your free trial, subscription, or grace period.
  • User Data refers to Your encrypted data in the Database, which includes the structure of your MailToDoList outline, the contents of notes and tasks that you create in the Application, and email header information and body snippets. (By default, this data is stored in the Database, but the Application can be configured, via its Settings tab, to store this information only on your Device.)
  • Third-Party Services means any services or content (including data, information, applications and other products services) provided by a third-party that may be displayed, included, or made available by the Application.
  • You and Your means the individual accessing or using the Application or the company or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Application, as applicable.

License and Access

The Company grants You a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicenseable, limited license to download, install, and use the Extension and to access the Database as a Service strictly in accordance with the terms of this Agreement for Your personal or business purposes.

You may only use the Extension on a Device that You own or control and as permitted by the Application Store's terms and conditions.

License Restrictions

You agree not to, and You will not permit others to:

  • License, sell, rent, lease, assign, distribute, transmit, host, outsource, disclose, or otherwise commercially exploit the Application or make the Application or the Service(s) available to any third party.
  • Copy, modify, make derivative works of, disassemble, decrypt, reverse compile, or reverse engineer any part of the Application, the Services, or the Databases.
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notice (including any notice of copyright or trademark) of the Company or its affiliates, partners, or suppliers or the licensors of the Application.
  • Use the Application, the Services, or the Database in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Application or interfere with any other party's use of the Application, including their ability to engage in real-time activities through the Application.
  • Attempt to access or modify the Service or the Database by any means other than by the Extension or to exceed Your rights to access data in the Database.

Free Trial and Subscriptions

MailToDoList is licensed per Gmail account and offers a seven-day free trial.

That is, You may use MailToDoList with any Gmail account for up to seven days as a free trial.

After that, to continue using MailToDoList, You will need to purchase a subscription for that Gmail account.

If You wish to use MailToDoList with multiple Gmail accounts, You will need to purchase a subscription for each Gmail account.

If You have a subscription, You may use MailToDoList on as many different computers as You personally operate.

Subscription Period

If you purchase a subscription, You will be billed in advance on a recurring and periodic basis (such as daily, weekly, monthly, every three months, or annually), depending on the type of subscription plan you select when purchasing the subscription. At the end of each period, Your subscription will automatically renew unless You cancel it or the Company cancels it.

Subscription Cancellation

You may cancel Your subscription renewal via https://fileographer.onfastspring.com/account. If you need help canceling your subscription, you may contact the Company. You must cancel Your subscription before it renews in order to avoid billing of the next periodic subscription fee. You will not receive a refund for the fees You already paid for Your current subscription period and You will be able to access the Application until the end of Your current subscription period.

Billing

Should automatic billing fail to occur for any reason, you will be issued an electronic invoice indicating that you must proceed manually, by a certain deadline date, with the full payment corresponding to the billing period as indicated on the invoice.

Fee Changes

The Company, in its sole discretion and at any time, may change the price of a subscription. Any subscription fee change will become effective at the end of Your then-current subscription period. The Company will provide You with reasonable prior notice of any change in subscription fees to give You an opportunity to cancel Your subscription before such change becomes effective.

Refunds

Except when required by law, paid subscription fees are non-refundable.

The Company does not provide refunds or credits for any partial subscription periods.

Grace Period, Data Retention, and Data Deletion

Upon cancellation of Your Services (whether by You or by the Company), You will cease to be able to modify the User Data that you have stored in the Database. For a grace period of 30 to 31 days, the Company will retain your User Data in the Database and you will be able to read the data using the Extension. This grace period is intended to allow you to resubscribe if you choose. At the end of the grace period, your User Data will be automatically deleted.

User Accounts

When You create an Account in the Database using the Service by connecting to it through the Extension, You must provide Us information that is accurate, complete, and current at all times. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of this Agreement, which may result in immediate termination of Your Account.

You are responsible for safeguarding the password that You use to access the Services.

You are responsible for any activities or actions occurring under Your password.

You agree not to disclose Your password to any third party.

You must notify Us immediately upon becoming aware of any breach of security or unauthorized use of Your account.

Your Obligations with Respect to Content

The Company is not responsible for the entries, information, or Content of the Application's users.

You expressly understand and agree that You are solely responsible for the Content and for all activity that occurs under Your account and/or while using the Application, the Services, and the Database, whether done by You or any third person using Your account.

You may not use the Application, the Services, or the Database for any unlawful purpose or to create or transmit any Content that is unlawful. Examples of such objectionable Content include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Content that is offensive, threatening, or that promotes unlawful activity.
  • Defamatory, discriminatory, or mean-spirited Content, including references or commentary about religion, race, sexual orientation, gender, national/ethnic origin, or other targeted groups.
  • Spam, machine-generated Content, or randomly generated content, constituting unauthorized or unsolicited advertising, chain letters, any other form of unauthorized solicitation, or any form of lottery or gambling.
  • Content containing or installing any viruses, worms, malware, trojan horses, or other content that is designed or intended to disrupt, damage, or limit the functioning of any software, hardware, or telecommunications equipment or to damage or obtain unauthorized access to any data or other information of a third person.
  • Content infringing on any proprietary rights of any party, including patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, right of publicity, or other rights.
  • Content impersonating any person or entity including the Company and its employees or representatives.
  • Content violating the privacy of any third person.

Content Backups

Although regular backups of Content and User Data may be performed, the Company does not guarantee there will be no loss or corruption of data.

Corrupt or invalid backup points may be caused by, without limitation, Content or User Data that is corrupt prior to being backed up or that changes during or after the time a backup is performed.

You acknowledge that the Company has no liability related to the integrity of the Content or User Data or the failure to successfully restore the Content or User Data to a usable state.

You agree to maintain a complete and accurate copy of Your Content and User Data in a location independent of the Database.

Intellectual Property

The Application, Services, and Database (other than User Data), including without limitation all copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and other intellectual property rights comprising the Application are, and shall remain, the sole and exclusive property of the Company. Nothing in this Agreement conveys any right in or to the Application to You other than the limited license rights granted above.

Open Source Software Libraries

Certain items of software included with the Extension are subject to "open source" or "free software" licenses ("Open Source Software"). Some of the Open Source Software is owned by third parties. The Open Source Software is not subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement. Instead, each item of Open Source Software is licensed under the terms of the license that accompanies such Open Source Software. Nothing in this Agreement limits your rights under, or grants you rights that supersede, the terms and conditions of any applicable license for the Open Source Software. A list of Open Source Software libraries used in the Extension appears at the end of this Agreement.

Your Suggestions

Any feedback, comments, ideas, improvements, or suggestions provided by You to the Company with respect to the Application shall remain the sole and exclusive property of the Company.

The Company shall be free to use, copy, modify, publish, or redistribute the Suggestions for any purpose and in any way without any credit or any compensation to You.

You assign all rights, title, and interest in any feedback You provide the Company. If for any reason such assignment is ineffective, You agree to grant the Company a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide right and license to use, reproduce, disclose, sub-license, distribute, modify, and exploit such feedback without restriction.

Modifications to the Application, the Services, or the Database

The Company reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Application and/or the Services and/or the Database or any other service to which each connects, with or without notice and without liability to You.

Updates to the Application, the Services, or the Database

The Company may from time to time provide enhancements or improvements to the features/functionality of the Application, the Services, or the Databsae, which may include patches, bug fixes, updates, upgrades, and other modifications ("Updates").

Updates may modify or delete certain features and/or functionalities of the Application, the Services, or the Database.

You agree that the Company has no obligation to (i) provide any Updates or (ii) continue to provide or enable any particular features and/or functionalities of the Application, the Services, or the Database to You.

You further agree that all updates or any other modifications will be (i) deemed to constitute an integral part of the Application and/or the Services and/or the Database and (ii) subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.

Maintenance and Support

The Company does not provide any maintenance or support for the download and use of the Extension or the use of the Services or the Database. To the extent that any maintenance or support is required by applicable law, the Company, not the Application Store, shall be obligated to furnish any such maintenance or support.

Third-Party Services

The Application or the Service may display, include, or make available third-party content (including data, information, applications, and other products or services) or provide links to third-party websites or services.

You acknowledge and agree that the Company shall not be responsible for any Third-Party Services, including their accuracy, completeness, timeliness, validity, copyright compliance, legality, decency, and quality or any other aspect thereof. The Company does not assume and shall not have any liability or responsibility to You or any other person or entity for any Third-Party Services.

You must comply with applicable Third Parties' terms and conditions when using the Application. Third-Party Services and links thereto are provided solely as a convenience to You and You access and use them entirely at Your own risk and subject to such Third Parties' terms and conditions.

Term and Termination

This Agreement shall remain in effect until terminated by You or the Company.

The Company may, in its sole discretion, at any time and for any or no reason, suspend or terminate this Agreement with or without prior notice.

This Agreement will terminate immediately, without prior notice from the Company, in the event that You fail to comply with any provision of this Agreement. You may also terminate this Agreement by canceling your subscription (if any) and deleting the Extension and all copies thereof from your Devices.

Upon termination of this Agreement, You shall cease all use of the Application and delete all copies of the Extension from your Devices.

Termination of this Agreement will not limit any of the Company's rights or remedies at law or in equity in case of breach by You (during the term of this Agreement) of any of your obligations under the present Agreement.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the Company and its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, employees, agents, partners, and licensors (if any) harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, due to or arising out of your: (a) use of the Application; (b) violation of this Agreement or any law or regulation; or (c) violation of any right of a third party.

The Company shall not be obligated to indemnify or defend You with respect to any claim arising out of or relating to the Application. To the extent the Company is required to provide indemnification by applicable law, the Company, not the Application Store, shall be solely responsible but only as to damages arising directly from the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any claim that the Application or your use of it infringes any third-party intellectual property rights.

No Warranties

THE APPLICATION, SERVICES, AND DATABASE ARE PROVIDED TO YOU "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. YOU BEAR THE RISK OF USING THEM. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, THE COMPANY, ON ITS OWN BEHALF AND ON BEHALF OF ITS AFFILIATES AND ITS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE LICENSORS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS, EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE INCLUDING ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND WARRANTIES THAT MAY ARISE OUT OF COURSE OF DEALING, COURSE OF PERFORMANCE, USAGE, OR TRADE PRACTICE. WITHOUT LIMITATION TO THE FOREGOING, THE COMPANY PROVIDES NO WARRANTY OR UNDERTAKING, AND MAKES NO REPRESENTATION OF ANY KIND THAT THE APPLICATION, SERVICES, AND DATABASE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, ACHIEVE ANY INTENDED RESULTS, BE COMPATIBLE OR WORK WITH ANY OTHER SOFTWARE, APPLICATIONS, SYSTEMS, OR SERVICES, OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, MEET ANY PERFORMANCE OR RELIABILITY STANDARDS, OR BE ERROR FREE OR THAT ANY ERRORS OR DEFECTS CAN OR WILL BE CORRECTED. FURTHERMORE, NEITHER THE COMPANY NOR ANY OF THE COMPANY'S PROVIDERS MAKES ANY REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED: (i) AS TO THE OPERATION OR AVAILABILITY OF THE APPLICATION, SERVICES, AND DATABASE, (ii) AS TO THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR CURRENCY OF ANY INFORMATION OR CONTENT PROVIDED THROUGH THE APPLICATION, SERVICES, OR DATABASE; OR (iii) THAT THE APPLICATION, SERVICES, DATABASE AND COMPANY SERVERS, CONTENT, AND E-MAILS SENT FROM OR ON BEHALF OF THE COMPANY ARE FREE OF VIRUSES, SCRIPTS, TROJAN HORSES, WORMS, MALWARE, TIMEBOMBS, OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN TYPES OF WARRANTIES OR LIMITATIONS ON APPLICABLE STATUTORY RIGHTS OF A CONSUMER, SO SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. BUT IN SUCH A CASE THE EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS SET FORTH IN THIS SECTION SHALL BE APPLIED TO THE GREATEST EXTENT ENFORCEABLE UNDER APPLICABLE LAW. TO THE EXTENT ANY WARRANTY EXISTS UNDER LAW THAT CANNOT BE DISCLAIMED, THE COMPANY, NOT THE APPLICATION STORE, SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCH WARRANTY.

Limitation of Liability

NOTWITHSTANDING ANY DAMAGES THAT YOU MIGHT INCUR, THE ENTIRE LIABILITY OF THE COMPANY AND ANY OF ITS SUPPLIERS UNDER ANY PROVISION OF THIS AGREEMENT AND YOUR EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR ALL OF THE FOREGOING SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU FOR THE APPLICATION AND SERVICES DURING THE 12 MONTH PERIOD PRIOR TO THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO ANY FULLY ADJUDICATED CLAIM.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY, THE APPLICATION STORE, OR ITS OR THEIR SUPPLIERS, AFFILIATES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA OR OTHER INFORMATION, FOR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, FOR PERSONAL INJURY, FOR LOSS OF PRIVACY ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY RELATED TO THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APPLICATION, SERVICES, DATABASE, THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE AND/OR THIRD-PARTY HARDWARE USED WITH THE APPLICATION, OR OTHERWISE IN CONNECTION WITH ANY PROVISION OF THIS AGREEMENT), EVEN IF THE COMPANY OR ANY SUPPLIER HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES AND EVEN IF THE REMEDY FAILS OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE. ALL OF THE FOREGOING APPLIES EVEN IF THE COMPANY KNEW OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THE DAMAGES.

SOME STATES/JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IN SUCH STATES, EACH PARTY'S LIABILITY WILL BE LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Governing Law

The laws of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, excluding any applicable conflicts of law rules, shall govern this Agreement and Your use of the Application. Your use of the Application may also be subject to other local, state, national, or international laws.

Dispute Resolution

If You have any concern or dispute about the Application, You agree to first try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting the Company.

For European Union (EU) Users

If You are a European Union consumer, you will benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you are resident. Nothing in this Agreement, including the paragraph above, affects your rights as a consumer to rely on such mandatory provisions of local law.

United States Federal Government End Use Provisions

If You are a U.S. federal government end user, our Application is a "Commercial Item" as that term is defined at 48 C.F.R. §2.101.

United States Legal Compliance

You represent and warrant that (i) You are not located in a country that is subject to United States government embargo or that has been designated by the United States government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and (ii) You are not listed on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Severability and Waiver

If any provision of this Agreement is held to be unenforceable or invalid, such provision will be changed and interpreted to accomplish the objectives of such provision to the greatest extent possible under applicable law and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Except as provided herein, the failure to exercise a right or to require performance of an obligation under this Agreement shall not effect a party's ability to exercise such right or require such performance at any time thereafter nor shall the waiver of a breach constitute a waiver of any subsequent breach.

Changes to this Agreement

The Company reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace this Agreement at any time. If a revision is material We will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at the sole discretion of the Company.

By continuing to access or use the Application after any revisions become effective, You agree to be bound by the revised terms. If You do not agree to the new terms, You are no longer authorized to use the Application.

Entire Agreement

The Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between You and the Company regarding Your use of the Application and supersedes all prior and contemporaneous written or oral agreements between You and the Company.

You may be subject to additional terms and conditions that apply when You use or purchase other of the Company's services, which the Company will provide to You at the time of such use or purchase.

MailToDoList is proprietary software that, like many programs, incorporates open-source software libraries distributed via npm (www.npmjs.com).

Your use of the Application is also subject to the licenses of these open source providers.

## Testing

The modular Auth SDK has both unit tests and integration tests, along with a host of npm scripts to run these tests. The most important commands are:

Where \<platform> is "browser" or "node". There are also cordova tests, but they are not broken into such granular details. Check out `package.json` for more.

### Integration testing with the emulator

To test against the emulator, set up the Auth emulator ([instructions](https://firebase.google.com/docs/emulator-suite/connect_and_prototype)). The easiest way to run these tests is to use the `firebase emulators:exec` command ([documentation](https://firebase.google.com/docs/emulator-suite/install_and_configure#startup)). You can also manually start the emulator separately, and then point the tests to it by setting the `GCLOUD_PROJECT` and `FIREBASE_AUTH_EMULATOR_HOST` environmental variables. In addition to the commands listed above, the below commands also run various tests:

* `yarn test:integration:local` — Executes Node and browser emulator integration tests, as well as the Selenium WebDriver tests * `yarn test:webdriver` — Executes only the Selenium WebDriver integration tests

Note - The webdriver tests require the Chrome webdriver to match the version of Chrome running locally. In the CI environment, this is ensured using the environment variable [here.](https://github.com/firebase/firebase-js-sdk/blob/6e80a678fe0c31046860554cec0459a2be34d22b/.github/workflows/test-changed-auth.yml#L7) When running locally, change the chromedriver version in [package.json](https://github.com/firebase/firebase-js-sdk/blob/6e80a678fe0c31046860554cec0459a2be34d22b/packages/auth/package.json#L124) to match your local Chrome version and run `yarn install`.

For example, to run all integration and WebDriver tests against the emulator, you would simply execute the following command:

### Integration testing with the production backend

Currently, MFA TOTP and password policy tests only run against the production backend (since they are not supported on the emulator yet). Running against the backend also makes it a more reliable end-to-end test.

The TOTP tests require the following email/password combination to exist in the project, so if you are running this test against your test project, please create this user:

'totpuser-donotdelete@test.com', 'password'

You also need to verify this email address, in order to use MFA. This can be done with a curl command like this:

The password policy tests require a tenant configured with a password policy that requires all options to exist in the project.

Replace the tenant ID `passpol-tenant-d7hha` in [test/integration/flows/password_policy.test.ts](https://github.com/firebase/firebase-js-sdk/blob/master/packages/auth/test/integration/flows/password_policy.test.ts) with the ID for the newly created tenant. The tenant ID can be found at the end of the `name` property in the response and is in the format `passpol-tenant-xxxxx`.

### Selenium Webdriver tests

These tests assume that you have both Firefox and Chrome installed on your computer and in your `$PATH`. The tests will error out if this is not the case. The WebDriver tests talk to the emulator, but unlike the headless integration tests, these run in a browser robot environment; the assertions themselves run in Node. When you run these tests a small Express server will be started to serve the static files the browser robot uses.

### Use a module bundler for size reduction

The Firebase Web SDK is designed to work with module bundlers to remove any unused code (tree-shaking). We strongly recommend using this approach for production apps. Tools such as the [Angular CLI](//angular.io/cli), [Next.js](//nextjs.org/), [Vue CLI](//cli.vuejs.org/), or [Create React App](//reactjs.org/docs/create-a-new-react-app.html) automatically handle module bundling for libraries installed through npm and imported into your codebase.

### Install the SDK

While you can write entire Firebase applications without any backend code, many developers want to write server applications or command-line utilities using the Node.js JavaScript runtime.

You can use the same npm module to use Firebase in the Node.js runtime (on a server or running from the command line):

# readable-web-to-node-stream

Converts a [Web-API readable stream](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/ReadableStreamDefaultReader) into a [Node.js readable stream](https://nodejs.org/api/stream.html#stream_readable_streams).

`stream: ReadableStream`: the [Web-API readable stream](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/ReadableStreamDefaultReader).

**close(): Promise<void>** Will cancel close the Readable-node stream, and will release Web-API-readable-stream.

**waitForReadToComplete(): Promise<void>** If there is no unresolved read call to Web-API Readable​Stream immediately returns, otherwise it will wait until the read is resolved.
